Riding Recommendations
What to Wear for Horseback Riding
You don't need to purchase a full riding outfit to get started! Comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear will help you stay safe and comfortable during your riding lesson.
1. Riding Pants
Wear long, comfortable pants that fit well and allow you to move freely. Riding breeches or riding tights are ideal, but you don't need to buy them for your first lesson. Avoid shorts, loose-fitting pants, and clothing with thick inner seams that may rub against your legs.
2. Riding Boots
Wear closed-toe boots with a small heel, approximately ½–1 inch high, and a relatively smooth, narrow sole. Paddock boots are a great choice for regular riders. Running shoes, open-toe shoes, and footwear with thick or wide soles are not suitable for riding.
3. Comfortable Shirt & Weather-Appropriate Layers
Choose a fitted T-shirt or long-sleeved shirt. In colder weather, wear comfortable layers without loose hoods, dangling strings, or anything that could get caught while riding or working around horses.
4. Riding Gloves (Optional)
Riding gloves can improve grip on the reins and help prevent blisters. Lightweight, flexible gloves are suitable for beginners.
5. Riding Helmet — Provided by Our Club
Safety comes first! Magical Horse Club provides riding helmets for use during lessons. Riders must wear an approved, properly fitted riding helmet as directed by their instructor.
Before Your Lesson
Tie back long hair.
Remove dangling jewellery and scarves.
Bring a water bottle.
Dress appropriately for the weather.
New to horseback riding? Don't worry! You can start with comfortable clothes and suitable boots. Specialized riding apparel is optional for beginners.
